Accessibility

Annual report of Diversity

Accessibility – 2006

Using the internal accessibility audit from 2005 as a base, Council met with Synod representative Pat Devers. She provided guidelines for capital campaigns to fund prioritized projects. To determine the scope of possible projects and associated costs, Council contracted with CKW Architects of Chicago to evaluate our functional space and provide guidance in understanding and prioritizing possible projects.

Special thanks to Peggy Foster and John Hansen for their work!

Anti-Racism

This group, along with GLBT and Handicapped Accessibility have been recently combined into one group, known as Diversity. This was decided and agreed upon by our Church Council earlier in 2006.

Our goals include informative discussions, guest speakers, and visual aids during coffee hours throughout the year. Katie and I respect the sensitivity of these topics and the need for confidentiality. Anyone interested in

participating or inquiring about related topics please speak to Katie Salyer or myself.

Partners – 2006

Sagrado Corazon’s choir graced our joint service on April 30th .

Vacation Bible School was held in September, with Trinity United, Sagrado Corazon, and neighborhood participants. Pastors Kelly and Prudencio co-preached at the VBS wrap-up worship service. The indoor picnic was the well attended, with lots of fellowship. We give thanks for Liga’s unending hard work!

Trinity United and Sagrado Corazon shared a Posada dinner in December, re-telling the story of Mary and Joseph’s travels before the birth of Christ.

A draft contract with Little Bear, tabled in June, is under revision.

Property has been invaluable in helping IRIM with their office space needs. This outreach, just as with ESL classes, is an exemplary example of how Trinity United can partner and of how so much can be accomplished.

Partners are called to work with Sagrado Corazon, IRIM, and Little Bear so that we all become better in sharing our gifts and providing our specialized services to the community. This is done through outreach, education, and welcoming hearts
